“That was unfortunate. That was essentially an interaction with Cowboys supporters seated near me,” Jones explained during a Tuesday interview. “Present was a swarm of Cowboys fans—not New York fans, Cowboys fans. The entire stadium was filled with excitement for the Dallas team.”
Jones additionally emphasized that the gesture was entirely accidental, happening amid the excitement following the team’s final touchdown. “I just showed the wrong digit,” he noted. “It was accidentally done. I’m not kidding. If you want to call it unplanned, you can. However, it got resolved pretty quick.”
League Precedent for Proprietor Fines
This is not the first time an league proprietor has been fined for inappropriate behavior. Previous examples include:
- Panthers proprietor Tepper was penalized $300K for throwing a drink at fans in January 2024.
