Despite embarking on their maiden continental campaign, Crystal Palace are learning very quickly. Without star figures like forward Jean-Philippe Mateta and defender Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles departed Dublin with a comfortable win that virtually secures them a place in the Conference League qualifying rounds.
A further three points in their next fixture against Finnish KuPS should be enough to seal straight passage to the last 16, especially after a prior setback against Strasbourg.
Fringe Players Seize the Opportunity
This match offered a platform for several Palace's lesser-used talent to impress. Christantus Uche, making only his second start after joining on loan from Getafe, opened the account with a well-taken finish. Striker Eddie Nketiah added a another, scoring for the second consecutive match.
The Shelbourne team that had concluded their league season were outmatched against a largely second-string Palace outfit. The Londoners were further weakened by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are sidelined with knee injuries.

After the break, coach Oliver Glasner took the chance to withdraw key individuals like Kamada and Wharton. Substitute Romain Esse came close to scoring his very first touch, only to see his effort blocked.
The youngster was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one shot crash off both posts before being clasped on the line. Uche then missed a sitter of a chance, indicating there is still scope for development in his game.
The only worry for Palace was a late injury to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This paved the way for 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to make his senior debut, capping an otherwise perfect night for the traveling side.
